@Mvandenbrink the only thing that comes to mind is if this ITO is part of an extension. I think some extension contents (if not all) can’t be saved locally.

@Alex-J it’s indeed part of our own company extension. So a greyed out save option seems right. But save with a new name should be available to save ITO’s with changed settings as a new one.

I ran into the same problem. If you load the ITO from the extension, it will be protected. So if you plan to edit the ITO, you should load it from a shared folder.
It makes spontaneous improvements very tedious, hopefully this can be improved in the future

Wouldn’t it be great to simply have a “Make Copy” button for classifications, itos, filters …

@JSN That would do the trick indeed. Up-voted both Copy / Duplicate feature requests. I’m currently duplicating newly created ITO’s with the save with new name (including all the navigating to the right folder issues). Unfortunately this doesn’t work for ITO’s which originate from our Company Extension. Hopefully one of the @Solibrians will check all the minor feature request which will make our workflow much more efficient.

There’s a reason why ITOs and other resources loaded from extensions are protected. If the extension is public, the resources contain intellectual property that the the resource publisher is not willing to share publicly. If it is a private resource, copying might still be not encouraged to reduce the risk of every user having their own slightly tweaked versions. For private extensions there could be a way to express that the resource can be saved. That feature is not available at the moment.

Dear @Pasi-Paasiala if it’s to protect IP, it’s not really a very useful way of protecting the IP. For classifications we could just export the components filter and the classification rules. With ITO’s you could also export the components filter. You only need to recreate the columns.

We use our private extension, because shared resources with Sharepoint and Solibri are impossible. Our private company extension fixed that. Working on project there are always some changes to the ITO’s and Classifications from the extension. Would be very useful to save them. So you could reuse them in other Solibri files from the same project. Or to just create a backup when multiple people saving the same project at the same time. So please fix the Save with New name / Save As options. Would make working with ITO’s and Classifications a lot faster.

@Pasi-Paasiala said in ITO save as / save with new name:

For private extensions there could be a way to express that the resource can be saved.

                    Yes please!
Ideally, admins or owners could update and push it directly to the extension. Editing might be blocked to other users. But won’t Solibri X make private extensions unnecessary?

What we actually need for private shared resources is the ability of branching (like git)…

@Pasi-Paasiala Any news on this functionality becoming available on private extensions? With the recent Duplicate ITO and Classification buttons it would be very useful to save them too.
