MEP Duct to ifcopening through wall rule?
-
Hi,
Is there an intersection rule for MEP ducts passing through wall where the opening void provision is provided? Like if the opening void object is set around ducts within a wall within MEP model. Is there a rule that enables us to check this? So if the wall is checked and no opening is provided for the duct it comes as a clash issue. If opening provision object is provided it comes as no clash but is there also an additional rule check that enables us to check the size of the opening void and ensure theres enough allowance for any duct passing through it?

Hi, you’re in luck. This is exactly what the Identification rule does in the Fire Stopping rules. You can check for where you have service penetrations in walls and floors and then with the option of checking to see if the penetration is covered by either a Fire Seal, BWIC or opening component.
We are also updating these to check for different scenarios i.e. where a penetration occurs and there is one of the following cases
- Service penetration with opening and fire Seal - Passed Condition
- Service penetration with opening but no fire seal
- Service penetration with no opening but fire seal present
- Service penetration with no opening or fire seal.
The Fire Stopping rules can be added and assigned to you by your administrator these rules are a free extension.

Hi @simon-gilbert,
The extension seems really cool!
Is there a way to check that the fire seals modelled are effectively crossed by services?
Thanks!
Best regards, -
Hi Mathieu, The Identification rule has a check box for identifying where this occurs
Check the option and the supply the component that it needs to cross i.e. a BWIC or Fire Seal using the filter / filter with classifications.
We have a update coming soon to this rule which will allow you to check for different scenarios.
