Calculation definitions (wall gross area)?
-
Hi,
Where can I find calculation defintions? I started looking at walls and gross area. I use ArchiCAD and most often I have composite walls with several layers and I don’t get it what dimensions Solibri use for the wall area!?

Hi. We don’t have specific definitions for these available, but they are calculated from the geometry of the components and the calculation algorithms can vary based on the type of the component.
For the difference between gross area and normal, the algorithms are complicated but the difference should come from the possible holes in the walls. If there are no holes, the areas would be equal. The minimum versions come from the fact that the walls can be higher on some parts and the minimum values are calculated like the height was the minimum height in all parts of the wall. Most of the times walls are of constant height and thus the minimum versions of values are the same as the normal values.

Hi all,
Are there any plans to add extra-calculations? for example:
- In “Information Takeoff”, it will be really useful to add a “formulation column”.
- In this “formulation column”, it should be possible to calculate, for example, a multiplication of two o more parameters.
Best regards,

If you sign up for Beta testing you are able to add those columns with basic JavaScript.
@Eric has posted a quick summary on how to use JavaScript to do just that. You can view his post here: https://society.solibri.com/topic/246/javascript-api-documentation-alpha -
@Xavier like @b-huijskes said, the Javascript functionality might suit your needs.
We would also like to hear if users were interested in fully programmable ITO API where you would write custom ITO columns with possible parametrization via the UI. It could be similar to the API which is used to write custom rules.
