Solibri on Smart Board
-
Hi,
is anyone using solibri on a Smart Board?
We have recently purchased a Smart Board MX275 V2. I also have seen in solution center, that there is a tool for smart boards.
I don’t seem to be able to zoom in/out, create annotations or apply other functions on the screen.
Is there a tutorial on how to use the smart board? -
It is originally developed for SMART Board 8055i. It might be that it is not fully compatible with Smart Board MX275 V2.
The extension is having features:
- When taking the Smart Board pen the Markup tool is activated in Solibri
- The color buttons on SMART Board changes the markup color
- Double finger gestures for zoom and pan

SMART Board 8055i
hhmmm so all these option I have tested an none worked on my model.

Any roadmap to support additional Smart Board Models? And why only this 8055i is supported? There are more models on the market

How about making Solibri touch friendly. More and more devices are getting touch screens. Also there are a lot of SMART board like devices which could benefit from touch functionality incorporated in Solibri.

Hey @agroni
This Smartboard extension was created some time ago for a specific use case and has not really been pursued since then. Recently, we haven’t seen a great need for expansion/improvement of this extension. Therefore, we currently don’t have an item for this on our roadmap.
That being said, this is a great opportunity to raise this question here and ask if there are like-minded users who would like to see improvements in smartboard support. It would be good, if anybody who has something similar on the table, to write the use case with all the details, e.g., the smartboard model, here.
Thanks!

hi @cpreidel
from what I have heard from the Smart Board reseller, is that more and more construction companies are implementing smart boards on their construction sites. I found it strange and unbelievable that a 5 to 10k device goes on the site, until he actually showed me pictures of implementation. On the pictures was though a 2D Plan visable, but who knows when they are going to go 3D.So for everyone interested in the Smart Board technology please vote on my post to see what is the interest of us users to work on such devices.
Personaly I think that a smart board fulfills good collaboration oportunities for teams, wether in one room or in a virtual one (we have this software where we can connect two devices via internet)

We would love to see more support/improvements for Smartboards. We have a conference room next to our office with 2 big Smartboards. It is used a lot for BIM meetings, more than we could have imagined. Added Solibri support for these boards will helps us getting more interaction with people. Instead of 1 person srolling through Solibri, you could then collaborate with more people.
On an other note, I think that Solibri should do something with touch screen support in general. When I am outside on the construction site, I can’t use Solibri. I have to use apps like Dalux which are strong in touch screen support and are able to make files pretty lightweight/optimized for handheld devices like phones and tablets. I don’t want to take my laptop outside, it’s clumsy having a big expensive laptop in your hands when you need to walk across the stairs etc.
Bringing Solibri to touch screen devices will help us in bringing BIM to the construction sites. That is something we are looking at for our colleagues who work at the construction sites. It could also help in having ‘one single source of truth’, since we then aren’t forced to use more then 1 program.
On a marketinglevel, I think there is a big market for an app like that.
