Rule 234 / ProvisionForVoid is completely inside a wall
-
Hi Everyone,
I am using rule 234 to check if the ProvisionForVoids are fitting completely in the walls.
It is showing me that the PFV is outside the wall 1 mm, but it doesn’t show that it is missing 1 mm from the inner side of the wall

Here is a screenshot of the rule parameter.

Is there something I need to modify in the rule parameter to get it right?
Thanks for your help!

@anees-alomar I always recommend, to model the ProvisionForVoids with 20mm got over on both sides. To avoid the issue you showed…

Thank you @chris for your reply, I also recommend that!
The question is that when the POV is out of the wall, rule 234 will find out that this is an issue if I set the max to 00 mm.
However, it doesn’t find the issue when it is smaller than the wall. (with the parameter Max and min to 00 mm)
Have you had this issue before?
Or do you have other suggestions to check if the POV is completely inside the wall?

I believe this is by design as you are hoping to check that both ends of the PoV touch the surface of the wall.
The rule will fail only if no side is within 1mm of the surface. If the inside component (PoV) runs past and protrudes past or any side touches any surface of the wall, the rule passes the check for Distance to Outer Max.
In order to fail, neither sides of void would need to be 1mm or more from the surface of the wall. Below, this wall has a PoV that is inside 1mm from both surfaces.

Is this what you are looking for?

Thank you @john-lipp for your reply, now I understand what this rule does.
That means this rule doesn’t report an issue if one side of the POV is not touching the wall surface and the other side does.
Then the question is, is there a rule to check if any side of the POV is not touching the wall’s inner side?
