    Hi everyone

    I have a question about synchronising with BCF live and BIMcollab. In a project we have 4 smc Files with exact the same IFC files inside. This is because different BIM coordinators work in the same project at the same time.

    Is there a problem if we create issues and synchronize this issues from this different smc files to BIMcollab? Topic > duplicate Issues

    Thanks for any advise
    Chris

      Not sure if this is the answer you are looking for, but I think the problem you might run into is that if a BCF is created from a rule issue, there is a link between both inside the solibri file, which won’t be visible to the other smc files.
      If the coordinators could run into the same issues (meaning the check common areas/disciplines), they might identify the same issue multiple times.

        @alexander-joslyn thanks for your answer.

        In the different smc files we filter the results with areas. For example, in smc file A we only look at area A. In smc file B we look at area B. The areas are a part of the title naming convention. We never create issues in file A which are a part from area B

        My question was, if i get multiple issues or overwritting problems when i create issues in the different files. The ifc are always the same in every smc file.

          @chris
          As far as I know, this shouldn’t happen since each BCF gets a GUID, and the server will return the running numbering for each created slide.

          Nevertheless, from my experience, I would advise you to always create slides in a presentation before copying them to the live sync. This is the only way of having a local backup inside the SMC file. Else, if the sync with the BCF server fails, there is no way of backing up or copying the slide (BCF), which will stay in the cache when disconnecting the live connector but not anymore once you’ve closed the SMC file.

          So instead of results > live connector, I do results > presentation > live connector.
          It is only a slight annoyance to have this additional step, the main difficulty being to keep track of new results vs old results.
          And btw, the live connector should keep the link with the presentation.

            @alexander-joslyn i was always aware of creating presentations and the create live issues. Some time ago i had different status in presentation issues and bcf live. I was very scared about this…
            But now we have a big project where we have almost one week for clashdetection. So the only way is to work with presentations. Otherwise we will loose all the daily work🧐

            Thanks for your answer. The bigger problem now is, that i have the same ruleset in this four files. And as i see, updating rulesets is a big problem….

              @alexander-joslyn and yes, new issues vs. old issues are a problem. Luckliy we have a strong naming convention.

                I think we all encounter the same struggles, feeling from all the other posts I see around…

                As for the presentation, I really only use it as a backup. Once it’s uploaded to the BCF server, I only handle the comment/slide there, so I don’t really care about its state in the original presentation. So I can ignore this:

                i had different status in presentation issues and bcf live. I was very scared about this…

                Good luck to you
