ITO using relations and decomposition
-
Hi everyone,
I am trying to make an ITO as follows:
- components by material and their volume
- grouped or classified by “zone”
- classified by element code
Now there are following challenges:
- the components are subcomponents (building element parts) from specific elements
- the zone is a classification of gross areas represented with IfcSpace components and can only be related to the components using the “nearest space” relation
- the element code is a classification of the parent components
I have tried many things but combining the 3 into one ITO seems impossible…
Has anyone manage to make this work or some cues? One thing I noticed is that almost everything I tried hit performance issues.

@Alex-J Would you be willing to share the ITO that you’ve created?
The nearest space relation can have a slow performance for complicated models. When the relation is once calculated, however, the performance will be better until the model is modified. -
@Pasi-Paasiala I can send it to you per DM if that’s ok, I don’t really want to share the project since it’s for a public client. I’ll send it tomorrow.
