Structural model junction box vs Electrical fixtures
-
Hi!
I have been looking into a workflow for QA of the placement of junction boxes in our structural models vs the electrical fixtures in our electrical models.
As we mostly do prefab buildings, we need to ensure that junction boxes and electrical fixtures are align correspondently.
To simplify, all electrical fixtures from our electrical model, must be within the outer geometry of the junction boxes from our structural model.
I however struggle to find the best solution to identify potential miss alignments.
Until now i have used the “#222 Component distance” rule, as “horizontal alongside” - that does identify the one where the junction boxes does not have a electrical fixture in front of it.
This does however allow the alignments highlighted with orange in the picture above, any ideas to a rule which would suit my expected output better - or potentially any ideas to a set of gatekeeper rules which would create the expected output? -
Hi,
you can try rule SOL/23/5.2 Components Must Touch Other Components

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately that didn’t do the trick, as it can only be based on checking the top or bottom surface.
What I need to verify is the vertical face is related between the two items.I’ll try and loop through the rules again and see if I can find a set of rules which would accommodate the need.

another suggestion is rule 234 where a component must be inside another component
