Slow import IFC files to Solibri
-
Hi,
I’ve been having big troubles by importing some IFC files into Solibri.
Some of the files are on 709 000 kb and the level of detail is very complexed. All the way to down to the smallest screw and nuts. The Triangle Count is also very high on each component.
The IFC models have been exported from typically model programs such as Inventor.
I’ve tried to run the IFC files through the Solibri Optimizer but the results only gives me 1-4 %, and are still slow when I’m trying to import them to Solibri. The poeple who also export IFC files could possible check the LOD before exporting to IFC…
Does anyone have any good tips on how to reduce/load the IFC models faster and better into Solibri?
The status bar takes forever. Could have managed to run 3 full marathons before the files is loaded into the model.
Not to mention the model control, this will become very difficult and time-consuming.

If you don’t have the option to go back to the maker of the IFC, I recommend Simplebim. It’s a program where you can do things like editing an IFC file, so stuff like removing bolts and nuts can be done through that.
Support for the Solibri optimizer has stopped and if I am right, it has been removed recently from the download page.

Yes,
I have also tried SimpleBIM, but unfortunately the components in the IFC file is one group. So there is no chance to exclude/separate the nuts and screws from the file when exporting…
Maybe the solution is to actually tell the guys who export the IFC file from Inventor program to exclude all the higly detailed components or check the settings before exporting the IFC files - to export in a not so highy level…
Any other solutions would be grateful!
