Quantities in m² are actually in sq ft?
-
Hi,
For an infrastructure project we noticed a difference in a wanted quantity between de model and de IFC viewer in Solibri. The correct quantity is 1639,03m² but in Solibri it gives 152,27m². When I change the units from m² to sq ft I get 1639,03 sq ft. And that is the correct value but with the wrong unit… what is going wrong? Is this a bug?

This could possibly be related to the entity of the component.
An object is not an entity, try to find a correct one.
I’ve seen the same thing with, for example, covering, where you can’t get a m² out of it -
Is this happening with all property sets in this model?
Could you check your IFC file with text editor:
The IFC file should have the units defined like this:

The area properties should be defined using IFCAREAMEASURE:

Hi, Thank you for your reaction. I find square meters but above there is a conversion to square foot.

This is oke to me

I think this same case was sent to our support as well. In that file, the area unit is registered as sguare_foot in the IFCUNITASSIGNMENT. Solibri uses those units. I remember that one particular property referring to square meters as unit, but Solibri does not take that into account, since it is not listed in IFCUNITASSIGNMENT. I have an inkling that only the units listed in IFCUNITASSIGNMENT should be used in an IFC file, but cannot confirm that right now.
