Error while opening IFC
-
Hi everyone,
I received this error for the first time while trying to import an IFC model via the Aconex CDE. Also when tried to open the IFC locally, I am getting the same parsing error:

I have also checked the line #742426.

In addition, I have tried it on Solibri 25.9 (newest version). No luck.
Any help on this one? -
thanx for the reply @lraimo
to be honest with you, I was suspecting the INF value. Loading the model repaired the issue.
But it would be nice to understand, why Solibri was not able to import the model (other IFC viewers didn’t have a problem with the Value) and especially what caused the value in the BIM authoring tool? -
Indeed the problem is the INF value. Currently we’re still quite strict on this, and don’t really want to display or open models which might be corrupt or otherwise invalid. Generally the thinking is that checking models that have invalid values or are in some other way corrupt may provide results which are inaccurate.
We would have the possibility to add an option to “Ignore” this error notice (and other similar issues with models), however the question is, does that help or hurt more in the long run?

I’m trying to understand the impact of an “INF” (infinity) value on our models, specifically whether it affects the geometrical or alphanumerical aspects. While I haven’t noticed any immediate issues when viewing these models in other viewers, I suspect a deeper investigation might be needed.
Understanding the precise impact of this “INF” value will help us determine if a new pop-up window is necessary to address it within our system.
