    Hi everyone,

I am handling high raise building project which may have many typical floor like 5 to 30 Floor are exactly the same design.
We would not model all the floor. Instead, we model only one typical floor and link multiple copies of it (I am using Revit).

So I like to know how you would export these typical model to IFC & SOLIBRI for issue checking?
Cause it is not possible to check all issue if I only import one typical model (there may be different issue in first and last typical or even typical to typical model). But it is not easy to export all typical floors to IFCs (at least I don’t know a good way).

    Thanks in advance.

      Hi,

I do not understand the question.

If you would like to check a typical floor it makes sense to only check that floor.

If i understand correctly you have a Revit model, with lots of linked files.
In the options of the IFC exporter in Revit you can export with the option “export linked files” and linked files are also exported.
Another option is to make a copy of the model, bind all linked files, and then export to ifc and delete the copied Revit model.

      Hope this helps.

        Hi Jeroen,

Thank for your reply. Yes,it is a Revit model with lots of linked.

I tried “export linked files” but the exported filename is very confusing and I cannot recognize which floor the model is.
For binding option, it take too long to bind and export IFC each time the model update. I hope there are some easier way to do it.

I think this case you need to clear with Autodesk since it has to do with export of IFC.

How do you define the structure of your model in your BIM authoring tool is up to you. It can be with linked floors or all in one model. The important aspect is that the IFC model beeing exported from your Revit must have all stories. Don’t forget that you are building a virtual model or the digital twin of your future building. That is why it should be a real representation of its geometry. A typical floor is not an approach that I would suggest you to use in Solibri.

From an IFC perspective this makes for a very incorrect model, no system handles what you are trying to do well. Archicad, slightly better but your not going to find much support in the BIM community for these “Fake” model methods. IE models that are not actually modeled to match the building. Revit users would would just tell you to use groups instead of separate models as Revit doesn’t support “Linked Model Instance” export, because it doesn’t have a system to create unique instance data for linked models… IE you would have 100s of elements with the same GUID.
