I was wondering how many of you use the Solibri IFC optimizer???
Do you also suggest it also to other parties not using Solibri?
    What is your experience?

I use it from time to time when I see large file sizes. However, I haven’t really seen large file reductions in these IFC’s. (talking about reductions of more than 20%)

Have not tested speed improvements after these optimizations, but I am curious if other people did noticed any improvement?

I use it almost every week and I suggest every participants in our different projects to use it.
It decreases our file sizes from an average of 30-40% (Archicad users).

We noticed file opening and importing (in Revit) speed improvements. No other improvements noticed.

Solibri Optimizer is a helpful app but should be used with caution, espacially in relation with IFC4 files exported from Archicad. I advise to compare the initial and optimized IFC4 in Solibri, to make sure that no object got lost in the optimization process.

see this topic for 2 example problems: https://society.solibri.com/topic/887/solibri-optimizer-problems

          best regards

What i miss is the Optimization of multiple IFC at ones. And also the suffix “optimized” is not really helpful. I have to delete this suffix with a script.

              I’m with Chris.
Dragging a bunch of files on it, auto-renaming of the original file to *_org.ifc and remembering the ZIP setting would be my favorite workflow.

I’m on the same train of thought as Chris/Stefan.
Batch optimisation would be very useful, as would be there ability to amend the suffix. Maybe it would be useful to be able to set a folder location for output rather than a file save as?

                  Hi!

Does Solibri optimizer software still exist or is integrated in any other software?
I don´t find it under the “download” section and need to optimize a few IFC files.

                  Thank you!

Solibri stopped supporting the optimizer software, and has since removed it from the downloadpage.
I believe it was stated that similar functionality is now built in Solibri itself.

                      Hi!

Is it maybe still possible to download IFC optimizer (older versions)? Or anyone know about any other alternative software?

                        Hi !

If you wanna to fill the gap, i’ve released ifc-compress.com for that exact same problem. Just more stable on large files.
You can do as many files at once as you wish, if you stil have the token to.
Don’t hesitate to reach me out on linkedin if you wanna try it !

                          @fgiraud-makyar
20€/month to compress files? Isn’t that a bit too high?
You are aware, that there are other free services to compress IFCs. What makes your product stand out to the others in the market?

Might be or may be not.

I don’t know another way to do it, efficiently and without problems on your models, even large ones.
You can try it with ifcopenshell, might work, but not sure it’s stable enough to use it.
If you got other stuff, i’ll try them out to see the differences, especially on large files.

For mine, i’ve tested it out on large files, mep, mechanical, architectural, and i got no loss of geometry or data.

                            It’s agnostic to versions.

And i’ve developped other things aroung :

                            • extract / delete things, types, or levels
                            • slice by level
                            • Compare version 1 and version 2 to retrieve the IFC model of differences only (with colour coding) -> new, modified, deleted
