Hi everyone, first time poster and new to Solibri!

Is there somewhere that gives standard IFC export settings when exporting a model from Revit? I want to make sure that all the properties come through as they should when looking at the data validation from Solibri. Is it simply a case of using one of the standard export setups predefined in Revit or does it need to be customised?

    Thanks in advance

    Stephen

What do you consider as “standard settings”?

Well, to cut a long story short, in your IFC Settings you can either tick to (also) send all your the Revit Properites in an own Pset - but I have to warn you, this can get pretty messy very fast - or you take a look on how to properly map just the needed Revit Properties to IFC - which is however far away from being a user friendly task, but I guess that’s intended. It has been a while since I’ve used this poster myself, but it should be a good start to get the basics down. I don’t have the most important page in English, but the images alone might help.

        Hope it works!

Please also read the Revit IFC Manual from Autodesk itself.

          Thanks for the response JSN.

By standard settings I mean settings used as the norm. I was assuming that typical IFC settings could be set up in Revit for say ‘COBie validation’ then this could be used as a base for COBie validation in Solibri on all projects. These ‘standard’ settings could also be sent out to the designers on the project as guidance for when exporting their IFC prior to uploading to the CDE.

Going off your response it seems that it will differ from project to project and isnt as simple as using one of the predefined setups given in Revit. I’ll have a look at the info in the link you posted.

          Thanks for your help

          Stephen

Well, that’s more or less depending on your used project template and how standardized your projects are. On the long shot it definitely makes sense to set up a streamlined workflow with resulting IFCs which are similiarly structured as you will do yourself a huge favor when you e.g. do not have to reconfigure Solibri Classifications/Rulesets/… all the time.

COBie is a good example - when you have the exact same COBie properties in all your projects you should indeed be able to use export settings which can be applied to all the projects. You can then proceed to Solibri and validate the IFC there before performing the take off or creating the COBie sheets.

However, take note that the first time you do it you will most likely need adopt the classifications according to your Property Mapping in Solibri to get it to work! Of course this also depends again on your used Revit template, the IFC Export Settings and its Property Mapping. I am not sure if there is even a standard COBie Property Mapping table available, but if I am pretty sure you would have to configure it according to your file anyhow.
