Shortcut Does Not Do Expected Action

I use keyboard shortcuts a lot, but one seems to have a glitch, or else I have an incorrect setting somewhere. The shortcut to update a slide is CTRL+R, but most of the time when I use that it starts a rotation of the model in the 3D window. (It doesn’t happen all the time, that’s part of the mystery.)
Is there a setting I have wrong? Has anyone else experienced this?
