Is it possible that for updating models solibri is looking at the IFC timestamp instead of other metadata of the ifc file?

We use SMC files in which the IFC models are searched in local copys of a cloud storage. we map the local storage to a drive letter so everyone can use (a copy of) the same SMC. we found out that everytime we open the SMC file all models have the status that there is a update for all IFC files. Only the creator of the smc file doesnt get these update statuses.

Hi. Solibri studies the modification timestamp of the source file (from the filesystem). It is hard to say anything precise without knowing what kind of a filesystem you have in use. But if your have a process where copying the files from the cloud storage updates the metadata modification time, it would cause this.

@lasse-lindqvist we use a synchronised local version of a (team) sharepoint. how difficult is it to use the IFC timestamp?

Well using IFC timestamp isn’t that much harder I guess, but it contains one step more.
In cloud environment it is easier to just check revision/version/timestamp of the file itself than download the file and read something it contains.

See also https://society.solibri.com/topic/1194/upcoming-solibri-version-testers-wanted if you wish to test an upcoming version that integrates into cloud services. There we do use for example Dropbox the file metadata revision (https://www.dropbox.com/developers/documentation/http/documentation#files-get_metadata) to see if the file has changes. This is one reason why I would be hesitant to start looking into the contents.
