Solibri autorun takes ages to update models (classification & footprints)
-
Good day to you,
in a project with a lot of ifc files (about 40) and different Solibri files we wanted to automate our process with autorun.
While it works (opening the Solibri Files, updating the models, updating the rulesets and saving Solibri) we struggle with the model update. It takes ages because with every file it updates, it also checks the classification and generates the footprints . It differs in the times it take for each file but it takes about 5 to 30 min. So the complete update process takes hours.
If I update all models manual the update of classification and floor plan only happens once.
Is this a known issue or do you know any tips that can help ?

I reproduced the issue and logged it with development as issue “Autorun Update Model Slow generating geometry and footprints and classifying components repeatedly #703” for your reference.
The only workaround I can offer is to use the Automatic update functionality to allow Solibri to update the IFCs if there are changes automatically if they are present when openmodel loads the SMC and not use the updatemodel task.
https://help.solibri.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500004052882-Updating-Models
However, this may change your current workflow as it requires you to overwrite your IFCs in the same location with the same name, and move the old ones into an archive folder somewhere else.

Thank you for logging the issue, can you update me on the progress or can I do that myself? Interesting that nobody else experienced that if it is reproducible, is nobody using autorun for updating the models ?
I will try the automatic update function as our workflow already uses the same file names in the same folder , thanks again for the tip.

I was surprised myself that I didn’t find it logged. You can find fixes listed in the release notes : https://www.solibri.com/news/releases… Although they don’t include the number associated. I included that if you ever wish to reference it in a support case or other post.
I track these issues for development for when fixes occur and do my best to update those on society and support cases at the time of their release.

I experience the same when adding and updating models using the REST API.
After each add or update it takes a while untill it finishes and continues to update or add the next model.Perhaps this can be split up into seperate methods in Autorun and the REST API.
Updating footprints
Reload ClassificationsThat way we’d be able to quickly add or update anything we want and after that reload and update the footprints and classifications.

@john-lipp Hey good day to you! Are there any updates on this with the new version of solibri ?

@HechtwieFisch
Unfortunately, I don’t have an update on the matter. I tested the latest version and behavior remains.I’m copying product management to ensure their visibility into the update/issue in the thread. @Paul-Linder @david-polanski
