    Hi there,

So I’m looking to make accurate QTOs for my projects.

When I have IfcCovering components that represent wall coverings or facade systems I only get the NetArea (which is always the FootprintArea actually) from BaseQuantities and not the NetSideArea.

It probably as to do with the definition of IfcCovering itself but right now I can’t get this SideArea unless I change these components to IfcWall (which is false regarding the IFC schema)?

Maybe Solibri could add some types of Quantities calculated from IFC dimensions?
Example for every components have FootprintArea and SideArea along with other values?
Or even differenciate IfcCovering Wall and Floor as they do with Ceiling?

What do you propose dear Solibri users?
Best regards and thanks a lot for your help!

Good question. I ran into this recently as well for a customer. I tried using the baseQuantities but in my case these weren’t perfect either so correct Quantities would be great.

FYI - Building Smart has defined the Quantities as we would like it.
in IFC2x3: “Total area of the covering in the elevation view taking into account possible openings. The exact definition and calculation rules depend on the method of measurement used.”
in IFC4: “Sum of all net areas of the covering facing the space. All openings that is included in the covering are subtracted.”
