    Hey @JeroenKoomen ,

sorry that it took some time to sort it out: Yes, in fact, with the new licensing a user can use Solibri in different machines as long as there are available licenses. Previously this was not possible - so it’s not a bug, but a feature.

Please let me know if there are any problems with this.

Hi @cpreidel for me personally it is a problem and not a feature.

But i do not know what other people think.

Is there a possibility to make this an option if you want this feature?
For example a setting in the admin of the slution centre if a user can obtain more than one licenses…

Didn’t mean to prejudge your assessment. But just that I understand what exactly is your issue with the current design: is it some kind of lack of control over how many licenses are and remain borrowed? As I know there is currently no possibility to make this an option, but I will clarify this with R&D. Of course, we can think about a solution, if there is a clear downside 🙂

            I understand.

Downside for me is that users can log in from there pc and also from a VDI solution and then can take 2 different licenses.

Why would you want users to be able to take more than one license?

One user might want to run a check on a model on one machine while working on another model on a second machine; but also an user might be working on a model at home and forgets to close Solibri before heading to the office. This is not an easy one: why would we limit a user to run several instances of Solibri as long as there are licenses available? But on the other hand one user would cause a denial of service accidentally to the other users in his pool. One option would be to allow account admins to release a license from any user, we need to discuss this with the team and find a solution that works for most of the posible use cases.

Since this is a change in the workflow I rather think of this as a bug than a feature.

Please bear with us while we find a solution. In the meanwhile, could we remind users to close their Solibri instances when they no longer need them in order to release the license?

              Thanks,

              —
              Jose

                Thx @Jose for your answer.

By the way my comment about the 🕷 was meant as a joke. Sorry if you and @cpreidel misunderstood 🙂

For us this change is a small problem because we sometimes use project accounts that people can use on a specific project.
That way we are certain that there are allways licenses for every project available and can we limit the users per project.
(so they login with a project email address and not with a personal email address)

With this change these project accounts can be used multiple times.
Hope you understand what I mean.

Could it be made possible to let admin-users take control over the used licenses?

Is it possible for the users to see how many different plases they are logged in?

@LeifHagen No, this is only available for the admins in the “User License Details”.

                              Hey @JeroenKoomen,

we investigated this issue and thought about the following solution: What about if we give the admins an option to set a timeout (optionally!) for Solibri desktop. This would release the license if the application is idle for some time. There would be a “please relog” window/button, that would activate the license again, if available, but the user wouldn’t need to restart Solibri.

What do you think? Would this solve the issue?

                                Hi Cornelius,

It would not solve my issue. But I understand your solution.

For me a solution would be if there is an option to allow / disallow a user taking multiple licenses.
