IFC Optimizer / Opinions
-
Solibri Optimizer is a helpful app but should be used with caution, espacially in relation with IFC4 files exported from Archicad. I advise to compare the initial and optimized IFC4 in Solibri, to make sure that no object got lost in the optimization process.
see this topic for 2 example problems: https://society.solibri.com/topic/887/solibri-optimizer-problems

I’m on the same train of thought as Chris/Stefan.
Batch optimisation would be very useful, as would be there ability to amend the suffix. Maybe it would be useful to be able to set a folder location for output rather than a file save as? -
Hi !
If you wanna to fill the gap, i’ve released ifc-compress.com for that exact same problem. Just more stable on large files.
You can do as many files at once as you wish, if you stil have the token to.
Don’t hesitate to reach me out on linkedin if you wanna try it ! -

20€/month to compress files? Isn’t that a bit too high?
You are aware, that there are other free services to compress IFCs. What makes your product stand out to the others in the market? -
Might be or may be not.
I don’t know another way to do it, efficiently and without problems on your models, even large ones.
You can try it with ifcopenshell, might work, but not sure it’s stable enough to use it.
If you got other stuff, i’ll try them out to see the differences, especially on large files. For mine, i’ve tested it out on large files, mep, mechanical, architectural, and i got no loss of geometry or data.
It’s agnostic to versions.
And i’ve developped other things aroung :
- extract / delete things, types, or levels
- slice by level
- Compare version 1 and version 2 to retrieve the IFC model of differences only (with colour coding) -> new, modified, deleted
