@ricardo Thanks for your reply, I got your point. You might have a different workflow.

In our case, we need to check both architectural and structural models to make sure they are identical because the architect is responsible for the final model.

In your case, do you have the structural engineer in-house? are you both working on the same model?

That sounds actually more like a corrupt file due to saving issues.

@john-lipp said in Understanding Model locations:

I did some experimentation to further understand how these locations are reported in the dialogue, and it seems Solibri creates these “scattered” locations in a sort of 1000m X 1000m grid. I created a matrix of 20 X 20 walls spaced 100m apart, and the widely scattered dialogue created 4 separate locations grouping 100 of the walls into each.

I thought that maybe if you had a wall 990m and a wall 1000m from the 0,0,0 origin, Solibri would consider that 1 single location, but the Widely Scattered dialogue will still warn you if you open the 990m and 1000m wall test files with two locations.

I guess that basically sums up the observation I made some time ago too.

Fun fact is that it happens within the same model.

What do you mean add images?
Add images, like a screenshot, to an issue?

…so I did some more troubleshooting, and as a part of this I remembered having adjusted the memory cache, distributing it a little more to other drive partitions instead of holding it all on C:. (this all roughly coincided with other changes to my system, so I had multiplpe variables to check…)

I have now increased the maximum cache on drive C : from under 50Gb to 250Gb (it was this large on other drives earlier), and for now the problems I’ve been having seem to have cleared up. So possibly/probably this was all due to Windows memory cache running out, specifically on drive C:(?).

Idea to run the IFC through the IFC optimizer first?
Another program that I use is Simplebim, for re-exporting an IFC. This helps sometimes with buggy IFC models…

    C:\Users\user.name\API
    is different from
    C:\Users\Public\Solibri\SOLIBRI\API

not sure that makes the difference there.

I am not sure we want to change how deleting JARs from the lib folder works really. It is anyway an admin-restricted path in most systems, so it is not the usual way for users to add API resources, even though it works.

    You’re welcome.

You can add pdf’s by selecting ‘add models’.

As far as I know there is no way to creating rules for pdf files.

    Hello all,

    We are Hoppenbrouwers Techniek, a Dutch MEP company, we Engineer\Construction\Maintenance Building\Site installations. Some of the applicaties we use are;

Revit - To design and engineer.
BCF - To communicate challenges between different applications
Solirbi - For checking and validating models.
Dalux - We are currently starting this up.

Of course we still use the coffee corner tho share thoughts and applications like AutoCAD, Office. Because of the simple reason, not everything is BIM (yet).
