    Hello!

    I’m currently expanding the usage of the solibri autorun. This means creating an xml for each project refering to all the diffrent models to be updated. Does anyone know how to get an overview (ITO, Classification, …?) of the file locations of the models?

    i mean: getting an excel/TXT/… format to export and so i can save some time with creating the updates?

    I was wondering if it is possible to modify one of COBie xml files, with the aim of adding new sheets or editing existing ones.

    Unfortunately it is not possible add new sheets. Only the sheets names visible in the XML can be used. Others are discarded. Columns of existing sheets can be edited and filled from your custom Information Takeoffs. Please note that the Information Takeoff column name and COBie template Excel file column names must match.

    Wink wink 😉

    We now have a beta version available for testing, which has improvements made to BCF Live, and to be more specific, the issue of multiple value conversion dialog pop-ups. Please test, and let us know how it feels!

    @Jimin said in Getting ITO list without void objects?:

    Yeah I was thinking of that as well but it seems impossible as I do only have an IFC

    Why impossible? Depending on what software you use it could indeed be possible. It might not be a beautiful workflow due to the known circumstances, but I would not say there is no way at all.

    Example: You could import your walls and the colliding MEP Elements in Archicad and then use the Opening Tool to let the openings be created. That should work, although it would be a much better result with dedicated Provision for Void collision elements - but of course you don’t have them because otherwise we would not discuss this here. Well, anyhow, this step would provide you with those provisions (the IfcOpenings) and the dimensions you are looking for. I could also think of the one or the other alternative method how you could achieve what you want but this is probably by far the easiest.

    Regarding the intersection check I would say that it would work if you have for example just this one rule and you make your specifications clear enough. However, I guess it still requires lots of manual work.

    Anyhow, which way you go in the end it should depend a bit on how complex the project is, how often you have to apply the method and how much time you could save compared to traditional workflows. Good luck.

    Ok, thank you for your reply, we have our own web application (which is accessible to our customers) where we view and manage the BCF issues. I naively thought that ‘Any BCF-API supporting server is compatible’ would mean that any server that is written around the BuildingSmart BCF API specification, which our is, could use Solibri BCF live.

    I guess we will have to continue our existing process of having to import and export from our application to and from Solibri.

    Hey @JohanE ,

    Ah, ok, so in the model, the IfcFurnishingElement must be defined directly as the group’s parent element via the IfcRelAssignsToGroup relationship. In this case, I am not even sure if the Solibri types, as such, would help, as relationships seem to be the only accurate indicator. Unfortunately, these are currently also not supported within the classifications as they make things super complicated. But you could check if the grouping component has a “Group” or “System” attribute under the “Location” attributes. If this is available, it should also be accessible in the classification rules and the main filter.

    And in any case, it would be helpful if we can take a look at your model ourselves to see how we can help you with the tools that come out of the box. Could you send the case and the model to [email protected]?

    Thanks
    Cornelius

    Hi Ion,

    you can do that with a simple Autorun setup (XML and batch file combo), which opens your .smc file and creates
    presentation based on the clash checking results.

    XML would look something like that:

    <?xml version=“1.0” encoding=“ISO-8859-1”?>
    <batch name=“Simple Batch” default=“root”>
    <!-- This is the starting task -->
    <target name=“root”>

    <openmodel
    file=“C:\Users\MaticS\FederatedModel_00.smc” />

    <autocomment zoom=“TRUE” />

    <createpresentation />

    <savemodel
    file=“C:\Users\MaticS\Desktop\FederatedModel_01.smc” />

    <exit />
    </target>
    </batch>

    Regards,

    Matic

  • BCF Live connector issue with new issue creation

    Hello!

    This is a strange issue which has not come up before, however I was also able to reproduce it:

    Open SMC model, load a BCF Live project and select any issue from the list to load the 3D view Edit anything in 3D view and create a new Issue in BCF Live View Notice the 3D view “updates” to the previous issue selection

    It seems if no issues are selected before creating new ones, then the problem does not persist.

    I will create an internal issue for this.

    A few things which may help at the moment:

    While creating viewpoints, set automatic sync off in the settings, so that in case of any errors in the viewpoint, nothing gets sent to the server. This allows you to update the viewpoint in Live Issue Details. Try to avoid first selecting an issue in BCF Live to load a 3D view, but rather first adjust the 3D View and then create a new issue. Automatic viewpoint creation can also be toggled off in settings, however this has basically the same effect as #1.

    Kind regards,
    Toni on behalf of the Solibri team

    Antialising is on.
    I unchecked the third option , the one that relates to GPU and CPU, in french “Utiliser l’élimination accélérée du matériel”, and it’s better now. I guess it means that CPU is now in charge as far as I understand. I would’ve expected to have better results with GPU on.

    Thank you very much!

    now that in 9.12 this feature has been added - or changed, here is my thought on it:
    I can here agree with:
    @Pia “disconnecting and orphaning the issues is a serious problem”
    @paola-bronzo “frustrating…some of our customers to lose all the checking results”

    but I have to admit I have never experienced such a thing, mainly because I use “check Selected” when I am testing and setting up rules and not with a final check - something that @Mauro-Cattaneo and @agroni mentioned.

    now that this option is here, I will adapt the workflow to the current possibilities and probably just filter the results.

    @cpreidel

    We would love to see more support/improvements for Smartboards. We have a conference room next to our office with 2 big Smartboards. It is used a lot for BIM meetings, more than we could have imagined. Added Solibri support for these boards will helps us getting more interaction with people. Instead of 1 person srolling through Solibri, you could then collaborate with more people.

    On an other note, I think that Solibri should do something with touch screen support in general. When I am outside on the construction site, I can’t use Solibri. I have to use apps like Dalux which are strong in touch screen support and are able to make files pretty lightweight/optimized for handheld devices like phones and tablets. I don’t want to take my laptop outside, it’s clumsy having a big expensive laptop in your hands when you need to walk across the stairs etc.

    Bringing Solibri to touch screen devices will help us in bringing BIM to the construction sites. That is something we are looking at for our colleagues who work at the construction sites. It could also help in having ‘one single source of truth’, since we then aren’t forced to use more then 1 program.

    On a marketinglevel, I think there is a big market for an app like that.

    The Solibri-provided libraries are inside C:\Program Files\Solibri\SOLIBRI\lib
    Reinstalling could have removed some extra JAR from the installation and fixed the issue. The extra JAR was most likely the custom rule package JAR that had been copied there for use.

  • Difference between IFC Entity and IFC Type

    The IFC schema provides a way to describe building elements that frequently occur within a project (like beams with
    a certain profile, etc.) more efficiently by reusable types. Such a “template” of an element is defined as Type and can then be instantiated and adapted accordingly. As a result, only the different data needs to be adapted for the actual component , for example, the spatial location of the object or its relationship to a neighboring building element, while the other basic parameters remain unchanged. You can find more information about this here: https://standards.buildingsmart.org/IFC/DEV/IFC4_2/FINAL/HTML/schema/templates/object-typing.htm

    In Solibri, the IFC Type Attribute indicates if a component is derived from such a type object. You can find more details if you also check the relations, which also store this information:

    The IFC Type attribute:

    The “Defined by Type” relation shows detailed information about this type:

    When you double-click on the relationship, you will see the information of the actual type object, which is an instance of an IfcDuctSegmentType:
